Tate Tips - Update on Council Tax - Sadly no saving.
Changes to Council Tax Regulations will affect people with property for sale, rent and second homes.
From April 1st, Council Tax Exemption classes A and C have been abolished. Local Aut...horities are now able to charge full Council Tax on any property that is unoccupied.
Properties that have been unoccupied for two or more Years may face an additional charge of 50% on top of the full Council tax bill. Second homes will also be affected, as the 10% discount for furnished but under-occupied properties has now been stopped.
Councils have discretion to continue exemptions..... But not the ones we have asked!!!
